Apple Health MCP servers, compared

An Apple Health MCP server lets an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code or Cursor read your health data. Apple has no server API for Apple Health, so every option pairs an iPhone app that reads HealthKit with a server somewhere: on your computer, on your own server, or hosted by the vendor. They differ in four ways: live data or a one-time export, where the server runs, which AIs can reach it, and whether the AI can write back. Below is each option, checked on 19 October 2026. We make Marrow Health, one of them, and say so where it comes up.

Do you need an MCP server at all?

Maybe not. Two assistants read Apple Health on their own now:

If you are in the US, on one of those plans, and only want to ask questions in the phone app, start there. An MCP server is for everything else: other countries and plans, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and other agents, Gemini, a food diary or a lifting log the built-ins do not see, and an AI that logs things for you.

How to choose

Each option in more detail

Marrow Health (ours)

An iPhone and Apple Watch app that reads 172 Apple Health types, plus its own meal diary (39 nutrients per entry) and strength log, and offers three MCP routes. On the iPhone: seven read-only tools while the app is open, for clients on your network, free (setup). The self-hosted mirror: one open-source Python file on hardware you own, kept current by the phone in the background, nine read-only tools, free (setup). Connect your AI: the same mirror hosted for you, so ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini read it with one link and your phone can stay asleep. Every sign-in is approved on the phone, and with Allow AI write on, the AI can log meals, water, weight, workouts, sleep, symptoms and mood, which the phone writes into Apple Health. Connect is part of Marrow Pro, $4.99 a month, $34.99 a year or $59.99 once (setup).

Health Auto Export MCP

Health Auto Export is the long-established Apple Health exporter. Its MCP server runs on your computer and queries the iPhone app over your Wi-Fi, so the two must be on the same network, and the app's documentation says it will not accept connections while the app is in the background or the phone is locked. It covers a broad set of metrics. It needs the app's Premium tier.

Wellness Project

A hosted service at wellnessproject.ai with an iPhone app that imports Apple Health when you open it, and connectors for Fitbit, Oura, WHOOP and others. Its MCP server offers a large set of tools to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and more, and it can save what you log in it to Apple Health. The free plan allows three analysis chats a day. Not open source.

Vaultbeat

An iPhone app (iOS 26) that syncs Apple Health end-to-end encrypted through the vendor's relay to a server you run on your own computer or VPS (GitHub). It works with local agents such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex. Its write tools save to your Vaultbeat account, and only State of Mind goes into Apple Health. Agent access needs Pro.

athletedata

A hosted MCP server aimed at endurance athletes (athletedata.health), fed by an iPhone app in beta. Strong on workouts, splits, sleep, HRV and VO2max. Its guide says nutrition is not included. Subscription.

MetricBridge

An iPhone app that keeps JSON exports current in iCloud Drive, a synced folder or on your network, with a free, open-source MCP server that reads them on your computer. Read-only. The app is a one-time purchase after a trial.

Health Data AI Analyzer (applehealthdata.com)

A Mac app with an iPhone companion that exports to it. Its MCP server talks to the Mac app, so it needs a Mac with the app running. Read-only, covering the main metrics.

neiltron/apple-health-mcp and Momentum's server

Two free, open-source servers that load an export into a local database and let your AI query it. neiltron's reads the CSV files from the Simple Health Export CSV app (not Apple's export.xml) and lets the AI run SQL. Momentum's reads export.xml and has since grown into the larger Open Wearables project. Both are snapshots: new data means a new export. If you have an export and only want CSV, our in-browser converter turns it into spreadsheets without any server.
