How to connect Apple Health to Gemini
The Gemini app cannot read Apple Health on its own. Google's list of Gemini connected apps has no Apple Health entry, unlike ChatGPT and Claude, which each read it in their iPhone apps. The way to give Gemini your Apple Health data is a custom app: an MCP server that an iPhone app keeps current with your health data, added to Gemini at gemini.google.com. This page covers who can add one, the steps, and what Gemini can then do. Checked 19 October 2026. We make Marrow Health, which offers one.
Who can add a custom app to Gemini?
Google's help page for custom apps in Gemini lists these requirements:
- You are 18 or over and in the US.
- You use a personal Google Account. Work and school accounts are not supported yet.
- Keep Activity is on. Custom apps are unavailable when it is off.
- You use Gemini in English.
The page names no plan. When the feature launched it came with Google AI Pro and Ultra, so if you meet the list above and see no Custom apps section, your plan is the likely reason.
Steps
- Get an MCP server that holds your Apple Health data and has a public HTTPS address. Gemini runs in Google's cloud, so it cannot reach a server on your laptop or home network. In Marrow Health, that is Connect your AI: open the Export tab, turn on Connect, and tap Copy your link.
- On a computer, go to gemini.google.com. Open Settings, then Connected Apps, then Custom apps, then Add a custom app. On a phone, do this in the browser at gemini.google.com, not in the Gemini app.
- Paste the link as the server address and save. Gemini opens a sign-in page. With Marrow, you then approve the sign-in on your iPhone with a six-character code.
- In any Gemini chat, on the web or in the app, type @ and pick the app, then ask. For example: "How has my resting heart rate changed since I started running?"
Can Gemini log things to Apple Health?
Yes, through a custom app that allows it, and Gemini asks you to confirm every write first (Google: "Gemini requires manual confirmation for any write actions"). With Marrow, turn on Allow AI write on the Connect card and Gemini can log meals, water, weight, workouts, sleep, symptoms and mood. Your iPhone writes each one into Apple Health, and any of them can be undone. More on this in logging food to Apple Health with AI.
What about Google Health and its Gemini coach?
Google's separate Google Health app (formerly the Fitbit app) can connect to Apple Health on iPhone, reading steps, workouts, sleep, heart rate, weight, nutrition and more, and writing most of it back. Its Health Coach, built with Gemini, works from that data and needs Google Health Premium, which comes with Google AI Pro and Ultra. That is a coach inside Google Health, not the Gemini app you chat with, and it reads three months of history. If what you want is Gemini itself answering from your full Apple Health history, or logging for you from a Gemini chat, use a custom app as above.
What Marrow gives Gemini
- Every Apple Health type Marrow reads (172 of them), with daily totals reconciled against Apple's own.
- Marrow's meal diary with 39 nutrients per entry, and its strength log set by set.
- Sleep, symptoms and mood.
- Your daily targets, which Gemini can also change if you allow it.
Connect your AI is part of Marrow Pro, $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $59.99 once. The same link works in ChatGPT and Claude. Setup for each: Connect your AI. Every option for giving an AI Apple Health data, compared: Apple Health MCP servers.
